  16. The earth on which we live is a big ball of very hot rock, which consists of three parts: the earth’s crust, the earth’s mantle and the earth’s core. The temperature inside is very high. It’s hot inside but cold outside. It has a shell just like an egg. There are some cracks in the shell of the earth in some places. Hot water shoots into the air through those cracks and steam comes up from pools of hot water.
