  1. DOWNSIZED! Prepared by Mr. Jun Amparo February 11, 2012

  2. Downsize 1. To reduce in number or size: a corporation that downsized its personnel in response to a poor economy. 2. To dismiss or lay off from work: workers who were downsized during the recession. 3. To make in a smaller size: cars that were downsized during an era of high gasoline prices. To become smaller in size by reductions in personnel: Corporations continued to downsize after the economy recovered.

  3. Doug had it all, and then lost it all—or so he thought.“This is your 30-day notice,” his boss told him. “We’re downsizing.” Looking down and twirling his pencil, he added, “It’s nothing personal.”At first Doug felt shock—then disbelief. And it was, indeed, personal. How does a 56-year-old mechanical engineer who has designed airbags and dashboards for 20 years create an interesting résumé? This couldn’t be happening—but it was happening, and right before the Christmas holidays.“I’m finished—ruined. What will I do?” Doug lamented. “I have a family to support, a house to keep, kids in college, bills to pay.”

  4. The Challenges • How to minimize your loss? • How to maintain your sanity? • How to move forward with courage?

  5. THE SEVEN BASIC PRINCIPLES TO COPE WITH DOWNSIZING 1. Create a budget.

  6. 2. Keep working.

  7. 3. List personal assets.

  8. 4. List property assets.

  9. 5. Discover available resources.

  10. 6. Maintain your health

  11. 7. Trust God. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."Romans 8:28 “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life” (Ps. 138:7).

  12. God is the creator and controller of the universe and all that is in it, whether animate or inanimate. Any use or disposition He chooses to make of any part of His creation is His sovereign right. God is accountable only to Himself. He reports to nobody. He is not required at any time to give to any person any explanation for anything He says or does. He is the superpower above all powers in every area of His creation. • We do not expect to understand fully the purpose for our trials until our Lord calls us home to be with Him. But we do know that He loves us too much to harm us, and that He is far more concerned with our welfare than we are. God's choices are always right. He is capable of carrying out any project to a successful conclusion without the possibility of fault or failure. Nothing in His universe happens by chance or accident. For every effect there is a cause. God "worketh all things after the counsel of His own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory" (Ephesians 1:11-12). Yes, God is in control even with or without DOWNSIZE! Who I am to question God? Who I am to worry with his dealings?
