  1. Ontario-Montclair School District Reclassification Criteria Spring 2014

What prompted us to revise our Reclassification Criteria? • To meet the Federal Program Monitoring (FPM) review requirements for districts to have a reclassification criteria for all English Learners, K through 8th grade. • To provide a revised criteria that will include a pathway for reclassification after the suspension of the California Standards Test (CST)/California Modified Test (CMA) takes effect.

  3. How will the new Reclassification Criteria Support our English Learners? • It will align our California English Language Development Test (CELDT) criteria for English Proficiency to that set by the California Department of Education for Title III accountability measures. • It will provide a clear pathway for all English Learners in grades K-8, including those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

  8. Reclassified Students are Monitored for Two Years • In addition under state mandate, it is critical that we continue to identify, target, monitor, and support students that have been reclassified for two years to assure their continued success. DRAFT 11.7.13

Multiple Stakeholders Shared Input • The input on the proposed reclassification criteria for Kthrough 8thgrade was taken from parent and district advisory groups: • District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) • District School Liaison Team (DSLT) • Also, various focus groups were consulted to include: • Teachers • Datacoaches • Administrators • The results were captured into a proposed draft reclassification criteria that supports our confidence that English Learners who meet this criteria will be poised to participate in the Common Core State Standards.
