  1. How to stock the cooler By: Miquela Cuellar

  2. Things you should do: • Always: • Wear cut resistant gloves • Squat when picking up cases of anything • Do not bend over • Mop up any mess • Stock any open cases on the back wall

  3. Guidelines • Never: • Leave an open case of any type of drink • Stock glass bottles on the top two shelves in the backroom • Leave broken glass in the cooler • Leave the cooler door open

  4. The 5S Program • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0SD96D4sio

  5. 5S Program • Set • Or configure • Organize and establish specific places for everything. • Label everything in the cooler to have a set place for specific items. • These can be general (i.e labeled 20 oz soda can be for all 20 oz soda products)

  6. Follow the 5S program • Sort • Clear out. • Essentials only • Occasional items should be kept elsewhere

  7. Sweep/Shine • CLEAN • Make sure to sweep and mop any spills • Once finished with the cooler for your shift you should sweep and mop the floor • Maintain a clean work environment • Make sure everything remains in its “SET” place

  8. Standardize • Consistency • Establish uniform documents, procedures, works stations, etc. for consistency

  9. Sustain • Continuous review • Make sure both 1st and 2nd shift go in to stock the cooler. • Third shift does not have to since there is only one person. On nights with 2 the cooler must also be stocked cooler

  10. When Vendors Come In • All vendors must be checked in before they put away their product • Most vendors come in on 1st shift but some may come in on 2nd. • NO VENDOR IS TO BE CHECKED IN AFTER 6:00 pm • The vendor should have a scan sheet saying every product they are bringing in and how many of each product there is • I personally read off the list and they point it out to me • Make sure no items are missing

  11. The Vendors Job • Vendors include: • Pepsi • Coca-Cola • Arizona • Suncoast Beverages • J&J Taylor • Sprite • Vendors stock their product when they come in but that does not mean that employees should completely rely on the vendor to stock our cooler

  12. When The Vendor is Finished • Check the vendors work to make sure it is to the store’s standards. This means that: • The items are stocked • There are no open cases • The vendor took out his trash • Items are not stocked above the caution tape in the cooler

  13. Things to Remember • Never leave the cooler door open • This causes the cooler to get warm and it will freeze over and completely stop working • Do not joke around and lock someone in the cooler. • This is completely unsafe and will result in termination

  14. Things to Remember • If you feel like you are getting overly cold there are jackets in the back room and take a break every 15-20 minutes • Never leave the other employee alone for hours on end while you’re in the cooler.

  15. Unsafe conditions • If you feel like there are any unsafe working conditions in the cooler contact your manager immediately • Notify your Safety Leader as well so they can help solve the problem in the store

  16. This is the end • If you have any questions regarding stocking the cooler or handling any vendors, you may ask me or another employee who has worked at Sunoco for the past month. Every employee must be trained on how to stock the cooler.
