  4. INTRODUCTION • Solid waste is increasing in Dhaka city day by day. • Due to - Rapid population growth • Urbanization • Increased quality of life

  5. Hence.. • Dumping of solid waste has become a great problem • GIS techniques can be applied to solve this problem

  6. Methodology Maps : The base map --- • Water logging map of Dhaka City • Structural map of Dhaka City Detailed Area Plan 1995-2015

  7. Prepared map--- • Major roads • Restricted areas • Rivers and proposed retention ponds

  8. Because --Major roads: for easy transport -- Restricted areas : dumping is solely prohibited -- Rivers and proposed retention ponds: • Prohibited dumping • Not in future plan

  9. Methodology • Arc View techniques - On the screen Digitizing • Editing • Buffering of the map layers • Overlay techniques
