  2. Why a new online database? • Depository of JDOs • Web-based access using IS password and UCL user Id • Quicker results • Role Analysts will be able to view JDOs online AND • Submit individual ratings before the panel meeting

  3. Start date for requests submitted online • 12noon Tuesday 5th April Key dates • 12noon Tuesday for new jobs • 12noon on or before 28th of month for grading reviews

  4. Method Panels of trained Role Analysts Cross section of UCL, nominated by trade unions, faculties & Human Resources Evaluations by job evaluation scheme, HERA New analysts are welcome.

  5. Grading outcomes • NEW jobs are considered by WEEKLY grading panels and outcomes are by following TUESDAY. • Grading reviews for OCCUPIED posts are considered MONTHLY with outcomes by 12th of following month.

UCL Grading Procedures Reminder New Jobs not previously evaluated Grading Reviews for occupied posts with significantlychanged duties Note: Do NOT re-submit jobs: Previously evaluated Minor changes such as: change of job title, name of manager or dept Replacement of one or more tasks by similar tasks

  7. Not sure if changes significant or if same role exists elsewhere? • Seek guidance from usual HR Consultancy (HRC) Contact • If amended job description or believe new job similar to/ same as another job elsewhere forward JD&PS (with explanation of key changes) plus original JDO and HERA reference if known so that HRC can decide if still consistent with original grading.

  8. Role holder’s duties grown to extent doing same as a higher graded post? • HoD should request that role holder be assigned to the JDO and confirm that doing the same duties and responsibilities, quoting the applicable reference and attaching the JDO.

  18. Appeal • If unhappy with grading outcome may appeal by submitting a written statement. • Feedback can be sought from HR Consultancy before submitting an appeal. • First stage for occupied post holder or HoD is an informal meeting with a member of the panel

  19. Future Developments • Will review after 6 months as changes are incremental: - Likely changes include copy functionality
