Samantha Tan & Alex Klarfeld USAR: Earthrise & robot issues
Camera Troubles • Antenna Interference • Make sure no other wires are touching the antennae • Pan/Tilt Movement • Practicing through the camera
Map/Directions • Orientation • Read map and develop plan • Pay attention to walls and ceilings • Driving up the wall • Getting stuck
Robot • Size of the Robot • Turning with the camera • Turning in place? • Turning in Corridors • Falling apart – Resets • Secure lose parts • Practice !!
Ramps • The first ramp was the biggest killer! • Lots of flipping • Why did this happen? • Too much weight in the front • Going too fast • The ramp has some tape, harder to slide down • Going backwards is challenging • If you plan to do this, practice it a lot
Stairs • Problems going up: • Flipping, Getting stuck • Problems going down: • Flipping, Disorientation • More practice!!!!!!!! • 1st step is tricky • Weighting issues
Magnets • Location • Practice with the Victims • Be careful about bumping into walls and losing the victims
Rubble • GET OVER IT • Clearance between base and wheels • Expect more rubble in Earthrise • Expect different kinds of Rubble
Logistics • Start Time: During your mission on Earthrise you have EXACTLY 5 minutes of setup time. Regardless of problems, your demo time will start • Bluetooth: Show up 10 minutes before your start time. TAs will show you where to test your Bluetooth to ensure you can run • Camera: Please ensure that your cameras are turned off to ensure that our signal to Earthrise will not be interfered with
State of Earthrise • We recovered the original blueprints and will transmit them to each team • Heavy damage is likely and the blueprint may be inaccurate • Automated security protocols may have been activated
Schedule • April 3rd • Initial Exploration -> 3:00 – 5:30pm • Rescue Robots -> 6:30 – 8:00pm • Only send top 8 robots back to rescue the robot • Email will be sent by 6pm • April 4th • Fix Space Station -> 10:30 – 11:30 am • ??? -> 11:30 – 12:00 am
Point Breakdown(Initial Exploration) • Floor Points = %Number of Rooms/Floor * 100 • Bridge = counts as 2 rooms • Clear Rooms Points (max 10 points per victim) • Victim Identification = 5 points • Incorrect = -5 points • Identifying Victim is in the room = 5 points • Correct Robot Route = 100 points • Turning on the Backup Lights = 50 points • Airlock = 50 points
Point Breakdown(Robot Rescue) • Floor Points = %Number of Rooms/Floor * 100 • Bridge = counts as 2 rooms • Victim Identification • We assume you know if there’s a survivor now… • Correct = 5 points, Incorrect = -5 points • Correct Robot Route = 100 points • Turning on the Backup Lights = 50 points • Airlock = 50 points • Rescue of Robots = 20 points/robot
Resets • Location • Entrance of the current floor • Start position • 3 resets total • Can teleport the robot back during a reset • You can try and fix anything that breaks • Your clock doesn’t stop during a reset
