  1. Senate Resolution 1009 In support of Coordinating a Study abroad Course Equivalency Database with the interactive Degree Audit

  2. Background Resources (study abroad advisors and searchable online program database) currently exist for students to see the UT equivalency for a course credit gained abroad. However, these resources are fragmented and do not provide clarity as to how courses taken abroad relate to individual degree plans. Study Abroad advisors are often unable to answer specific questions concerning credit for individual degree plans.

  3. Background The Interactive Degree Audit (IDA) is a program provided by the Registrar’s office that gives a report on a student’s progress towards a specific degree plan.

  4. Background IDA has a feature, the IDA Planner, that allows students to see how transfer courses or courses they plan to take will be incorporated into their degree plan.

  5. Purpose To add a tab to the IDA planner that allows students to directly see how foreign transfer credit, from studying abroad, will apply to personal degree plan. This will provide a convenient and centralized resource for students planning to study abroad.

  6. Summary Students have difficulty locating study abroad courses that count towards and are eligible for transfer into their degree plan. We propose the creation of a tab for students to run a foreign course equivalency audit for their degree. The implementation of such a tab will create a clearer resource for students in the study abroad planning process and will allow for greater efficiency.
