  3. Elements for Consent: • Equal Power base • Must know to what one is consenting • Must understand the repercussions of behavior • Must comprehend societal standards of behavior • Must be sober

  4. 3 types of behavior • Consent • Cooperation • Coercive

  5. Creating psychological safety in relationships • Focused attention (seeing reading cues of the other person) • Nonjudgmental – “I care about you even though I don’t like what you’re doing” • Owning feelings • Recognition of diversity – “I’m allowed to be different than you” • Empathy • Trustworthiness

  6. Universal goals for healthy sexual development • Communication – being able to ask for consent (Listening for a yes) • Empathy • Accountability – taking responsibility for yourself

  7. What is intimacy? • Intimacy is communication • Intimacy is not sex • Sex offenders yearn for intimacy; they are just clueless about how to achieve it • Sex is about taking, love making is about sharing • Asking for consent eliminates confusion • Each behavior receives consent
