My School. Henry Beaufort. The School. The Henry Beaufort School is a large mixed school, in the city of Winchester, for students aged 11 to 16. The School is large, with around 1000 students. Hours: school starts at 8:30am and finishes at 2:40pm.

  1. My School Henry Beaufort

  2. The School • The Henry Beaufort School is a large mixed school, in the city of Winchester, for students aged 11 to 16. The School is large, with around 1000 students. • Hours: school starts at 8:30am and finishes at 2:40pm. • State school for girls and boys aged 11-16, • Head teacherMr. de Sausmarez. • Travel to and from school: most students walk to school, take the bus, or travel by car both ways. • The School motto is to do your “Personal Best.”

  3. Timetable • In Henry Beaufort we have five lessons in a day. • Each lesson is one hour long. • We have a morning registration in our tutor rooms, a morning break, a lunch break (when we have the option of going to the Canteen), and a lunchtime registration. • On Wednesdays we have an extra lesson in the day, but each lesson is only 50 minuets long.

  4. Tutor Groups The school groups its students into Tutor Teams. There are seven teams in the school which are named after capital cities in Europe. Athens, Berlin, Luxembourg, Moscow, Prague, Rome and Warsaw. The subjects based in the Athens building are: Art, Drama, Music and P.E. The subjects taught in the Berlin building are Media and Humanities. Luxembourg-languages: French, Spanish and German. Moscow- Maths. Prague-English. Rome-I.T Technology. And Warsaw- Science.

  5. Facilities • We have a modern building for Music, Drama and Art. • New Media suite. • Refurbished Science laboratories. • Soon to have an all weather sports surface( Astroturf ). • New Canteen selling lots of healthy foods. • Large sports field and a sports hall for indoor Canteen sports, and a concert hall for assemblies and there is also a hall for Gymnastics and dance. • The School also has a library with a range of fiction and non fiction books.

  6. Athens Music Music • Some instruments you learn to play in music are Keyboards, Steel pans and many percussion instruments, including African drums. • There are 4 practice rooms for instrument lessons in the block. • There is also a recording room. • Throughout the year various musical concerts are performed in the school.

  7. Athens Art,Drama,Sport In Athens there are two art rooms with materials for arts, crafts and pottery. There are also two large drama studios which can be opened into one big studio for performances. There are a wide range of sporting activities including; Dance, Gym, Football, Rugby, Hockey, Cricket, Basketball and racket sports; like Tennis, Netball, and Volleyball.

  8. Berlin Humanities • Humanities is a combination of 3 subjects, Geography, History and Religious Education (R.E).

  9. Luxembourg Languages • In Henry Beaufort 3 languages are taught; French, German and Spanish. • Everyone in the School studies French. • Some Students are given the option of learning another language ( German or Spanish ) as well as French if they have achieved high enough grades.

  10. Moscow Mathematics • Every student in school studies Mathematics (maths). • In some lessons we use computers and laptops • We also use maths websites for homework . • In the Moscow building there is a new Media room.

  11. Prague English • In the Prague building we study English literature and language, which is reading and writing. • In some English lessons we have a reading lesson, in which we go to the school library. This is a classroom in the Prague building

  12. Rome I.T and Technology • I.T is information technology which involves using computers. • There are numerous I.T computer suites around the school. Technology • The different parts of technology are: Graphics, Textiles (sewing), Electronics, Food tech and Resistant materials (metal and woodwork).

  13. Warsaw Science • In Warsaw we study Science, which is Biology, Chemistry and Physics. • The school has lots of scientific equipment including, Bunsen burners, microscopes, and many different chemicals. • In Science we do experiments which we call practicals. • Laptop computers are available in the science block.

  14. Year 11 • At the end of year 11, before leaving school we take GCSE exams. • At 16 years old some children will leave school, whilst others will go on to College and then University. • At Henry Beaufort there is the tradition of the leavers ball, which is a big party to celebrate finishing school. • The School is enjoyable, fun and a great place to learn.
