  1. If you know who you are, you’ll know what to do. • Being a follower of Christ is like . . .

  2. I Love You!

  3. I Love You!

  4. How does Jesus reveal God? “Father”

  5. “Father?” For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Romans 8:15-17

  6. “Father?” But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir. Galatians 4:4-7

  7. “FATHER” Spiritual Birth (John 3:3) Children (John 1:12-13) Adopted (Ephesians 1:5) Heirs (Romans 8:17)

  8. Why “Father?” Why “Family?” • We understand God’s love

  9. Why “Father?” Why “Family?” • We understand God’s love • We are more accepting and patient with other Christians

  10. Why “Father?” Why “Family?” • We understand God’s love • We are more accepting and patient with other Christians • We are more motivated to serve others and share the Good News

  11. Take a Step ASK How do I see God? -as my “Father?” -as the “Big Boss?” -as the “Enforcer?” -as the “Drill Sergeant?” How do I treat ALL other Christians? -sacrificial love and acceptance as family? -nonchalant patronizing as acquaintances? -judgmental attitudes as strangers? God reveals Himself to us as a loving, sacrificial Father.

  12. Take a Step ACT My time with my Father will reflect how much I understand who He is. Today, my choices, decisions and plans will reflect who I am in Christ. I will give my brothers and sisters the benefit of the doubt and seek to serve them in ways that honor my Father. By the love and grace He gave me in the death and resurrection of Christ, I am a child of my Father and an heir of all He is and has. So how do I respond?
