  2. Goals • Facilitate college credit for registered apprenticeship programs • Provide a statewide agreement with consistent credit value • Provide a statewide agreement for degree completion

  3. 2010 Development of Statewide Apprenticeship/Community College Articulation Agreement • Identify a process of operation • Curriculum Alignment • Apprenticeship Programs • Content of the program • Validation process • Outcomes of the program • End of program examination • National/State credential

Development of Statewide Apprenticeship/Community College Articulation Agreement - Continued • Community Colleges • Reviewed current agreement with apprenticeship program – if applicable • Faculty reviewed program outcomes – determine course credit application • Colleges coordinated common amount of credit • Addressed curriculum differences immediately with OBOR or Apprenticeship Program

  5. April 15, 2010 • Colleges coordinated common credit value for IBEW-NECA Electrical Trades Apprenticeship Program • Developed curriculum format • New –Revised policy by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC)- Contractual Arrangements

HLC – Contractual Arrangements • Institution outsources some portion of one or more of its educational programs … unaccredited… • Less than 25% - Commission Notification • 25%-50% Prior Commission Approval • More than 50% - will receive intense scrutiny and will not be approved by the Commission except in exceptional circumstances

  8. Next Steps - IBEW • Finalized curriculum agreement with 11 community colleges • Started the process of writing the HLC- Substantive Change Application – 11 colleges

  9. 2012 • Submitted the IBEW/NECA HLC Application • Received approval from HLC for the contractual arrangement between the 11 colleges and IBEW/NECA Electrical Trades Apprenticeship Program • Initiated the Sheet Metal Apprenticeship Pathway

  10. 2013 • Submitted the HLC application for Sheet Metal • Apprenticeship Statewide Partnership Panel • Continue with additional apprenticeship programs • Carpentry
