  2. Brief News for the Week of:3/10/08 3/15 A giant crane, nearly 15 stories high, collapsed at a construction site in New York City. The crane fell across the street into a Manhattan East Side skyscraper. This disaster killed 4 people and left 3 missing.

  3. Brief News for the Week of:3/10/08 3/15 The state of Georgia suffered from severe tornados on Saturday. One whipped right through the heart of Atlanta, the state’s capital, as well as killed 2 people. The governor of Georgia and the mayor of Atlanta have declared this a state of emergency.

  4. Brief News for the Week of:3/10/08 3/16 The United Nations Environment Program recently proclaimed that the Earth’s glaciers are melting at record rates. This could cause problems especially for people who rely on the water that comes from these glaciers. This could cause immense problems in places like India. The Program encourages countries to agree to stricter targets for emission reductions.

  5. Brief News for the Week of:3/10/2008 3/13 Producers recently announced that the seventh and final installment of the Harry Potter films will be cut into two separate movies. This adjustment was made because nothing could be sufficiently cut out from the novel. Part 1 and Part 2 of the movie will be released in November 2010 and May 2011, respectively.
