  2. MUNA is about • Building bridges of goodwill for world peace and understanding Its objective is • To encourage young people to learn respect and tolerance for people of all races, religions and nationalities

  3. What Happens • Teams of 2 year 11 students represent UN countries • Simulate the working of the UN Assembly • Debate resolutions on matters of world political and social concern

  4. What we aim to do • Develop an awareness of the UN and it’s workings • Develop public speaking skills • Learn to see the world through another countries point of view • Improve debating ability • Learn to negotiate with others

  5. When & Where • 1st-2nd May, 2010 • Legislative Chamber of Parliament House • Venue hire, security, teas and lunch • Clubs to help with costumes

  6. Prizes Awarded • Best debating teams • Best costumes • Most popular team • Winners go to National MUNA in Canberra

  7. Club Action • Decide to sponsor a team next year! • Nominate a MUNA representative for your club in your International/New Generations committee • Put it in your programme for 2009/10 and budget cost • Determine which School you wish to approach and determine contacts – pre Xmas 2009 – we will look for indications of involvement in October/November • Recruit your team(s) – February 2010 – papers will be sent out at the start of February • Send in student registration forms and parent consent forms – by 20th March 2010
