Class Objectives • EE Seminar Class is an important component of EE297/EE299 classes created with the intend to : • Providing guidance to the EE297A/EE299A students to formulate project/thesis ideas and develop a formal proposal under their advisor supervision • Providing a forum for presentations of technical papers and research results • Providing a platform for students to present their final MSEE project or Thesis EE297B/EE299B • The EE Seminar itself is not a course; it is an instructional component affecting both the EE297/EE299 classes

  3. How To Register • Fill the application • Meet the requirements • Candidacy in good standing • Get an add code from the Dept.’s Office

EE Seminar outline • Week 1 to 5: Lecture/Workshop Series on • Introduction to EE297/EE299, process and regulation • Introduction to faculty research topics • Plagiarism • Issues in proposal development • Scheduling and presentation • Week 5 to 8: Guest/ Faculty Presentation of Technical Papers • Week 9 : Proposal Feedback Meeting • Week 10 to 11: Guest Speakers • Week 12 to14: Final Project Presentation • Week 15: Thesis Defense

EE Seminar requirement from EE297A/EE299A students • Attendance* • Proposal submission (Week 11) • Written Reports • Work Progress Report (With Advisor signature) • Seminar Instructor will give 25% of the final grade, 75% from the advisor • The Grade will be: A, B,C or No-credit ; Incomplete will be given only in rare and justifiable cases

  6. EE Seminar requirement from EE297B/EE299B students • Final Project Presentation or Thesis Defense (Both Advisor and Co-Advisor must be presented) • Seminar Instructor will sign off the presentation/defense together with the Advisors • No students should be allowed to register to EE297B/299B without a grade from EE297A/299A

  7. Required Check List for EE297/EE299 • Registration Signature required:Advisor • EE Seminar for EE297A/299A Signature required: EE Seminar instructor • Final Project Presentation/Thesis Defense Signature required: Advisor, Co-advisor, Seminar Instructor • Final Project Report/Thesis Signature required: Advisor, Co-advisor and/ or Members of Thesis Committee
