  4. Common Sense Sayings From God: From Rage to Restraint 1 Samuel 25:2-13 various verses in Proverbs

  5. “There was a wealthy man from Maon who owned property near the town of Carmel. He had 3,000 sheep and 1,000 goats, and it was sheep-shearing time. 3 This man’s name was Nabal, and his wife, Abigail, was a sensible and beautiful woman. But Nabal, a descendant of Caleb, was crude and mean in all his dealings. 4 When David heard that Nabal was shearing his sheep,

  6. 5 he sent ten of his young men to Carmel with this message for Nabal: 6 “Peace and prosperity to you, your family, and everything you own! 7 I am told that it is sheep-shearing time. While your shepherds stayed among us near Carmel, we never harmed them, and nothing was ever stolen from them. 8 Ask your own men, and they will tell you this is true. So would you be kind to us, since we have come at a time of celebration? Please share any provisions you might have on hand with us and with your friend David.”

  7. David’s young men gave this message to Nabal in David’s name, and they waited for a reply. 10 “Who is this fellow David?” Nabal sneered to the young men. “Who does this son of Jesse think he is? There are lots of servants these days who run away from their masters. 11 Should I take my bread and my water and my meat that I’ve slaughtered for my shearers and give it to a band of outlaws who come from who knows where?”

  8. So David’s young men returned and told him what Nabal had said. 13 “Get your swords!” was David’s reply as he strapped on his own. Then 400 men started off with David, and 200 remained behind to guard their equipment.” 1 Samuel 25:2-13

  9. “We get angry when we feel... unaccepted. unappreciated. unsupported. unprotected uncertain.

  10. 1. A NURTURED Anger. “..don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil… .” Ephesians 4:26,27

  11. 2. An ATTITUDE of Anger. “An angry person stirs up conflict, and a hot-tempered person commits many sins.” Proverbs 29:22

  12. 3. AVENGEFULAnger. "Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge;  I will pay them back,” says the Lord.." Romans 12:19

  13. ““Why are you so angry?” the Lord asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? 7 You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.” 8 One day Cain suggested to his brother, “Let’s go out into the fields.” And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother, Abel, and killed him.” Cain let anger linger and gnaw at him and it built up enough to strike out.” Genesis 4:6-8

  14. How can we have victory over our vices? “Sensible people control their temper; they earn respect by overlooking wrongs.” Proverbs 19:11

  15. We all get angry at times and we have to ask two basic questions Do we allow the anger to be destructive Do we allow the anger to be embedded?

  16. Anger is a spiritual issue that is dealt with a spiritual solution. "May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus.” Romans 15:5

  17. Ask God’s FORGIVENESS Contrition vs excuses

  18. Rely on God’s POWER. “Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? 2 Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.

  19. “3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. 5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.” Philippians 2:1-5

  20. Let the peace of Christ be in control in your heart (for you were in fact called as one body to this peace), and be thankful.Colossians 3:15

  21. “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23

  22. As you leave this place, may you seek God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and witness how God can bring blessings through you.
