Sketch-Based 3D Modeling in Augmented and Virtual Reality Environments

Explore sketch-based 3D modeling with gestures and physics simulations in AR/VR. Compare creation modes and object manipulation with/without physics. Evaluation methodologies include comparing freeform shape creation using gestures in AR vs. VR, and object manipulation with or without physics simulation. Expected results will focus on immersion, natural creation, and performance ease with the Blobmaker tool. This thesis investigates the use of sketch-based modeling in immersive environments, including the use of stereoscopic glasses, reflective finger gestures, and real physics simulation. Evaluation methods compare the ease of learning and performance with the Blobmaker tool. The first phase, ending on February 16, 2010, focuses on tool familiarization and assessing 3D immersion and creation naturalness. The second phase, ending on April 22, 2010, includes physics simulations, gestures, and performance comparisons. Video prototype available. Any questions?
