Me and My Shadow. By Laurie. My Shadow Changes All Through the Day. What Does My Bar Graph Tell Me?. My shadow is longest at 9:00 a.m. The sun is low on the horizon. My shadow is shortest at 12:00 noon. The sun was right above me at noon, so that is why my shadow was so short.

What Does My Bar Graph Tell Me? • My shadow is longest at 9:00 a.m. • The sun is low on the horizon. • My shadow is shortest at 12:00 noon. • The sun was right above me at noon, so that is why my shadow was so short. • At 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., it is almost the same size. • That is because the light from the sun is hitting the Earth at the same location but it’s in different places on the horizon.

  4. What Would My Shadow Look Like at 12:00 Noon? • I think my shadow will be short because the measurements I took were short for 12:00 noon. • I made this estimation, because I knew the sun would be right over my head at noon. This picture is a prediction of my shadow at 12:00 noon.

  5. Here is My Shadow at 12:00 Noon! My shadow estimation was right! My drawing and the digital picture look almost exactly the same. When we took this picture, I looked up and the sun was right over my head, so it created a short shadow.

  6. The Changes I See • Shadows change sizes at different times of the day. • They are long in the morning and get short up to noon time. • After noon, shadows begin to get longer again. • The size of the shadow changes depending on where the Sun is located.
