  2. How to set up an Alert 1. Sign up for a personal account. 2. Choose a search statement which gives “good” results. Save this search as an email alert. OR Choose an RSS reader. Enter file address of your search statement. EXAMPLES

Choose how often it’s sent to you.

OR joins similar terms; enclose them in ( ) or more terms ? broaden search, more results AND joins different concepts or subjects add more subjects ? focus search *different endings of root word (wild card) boat* boat, boats, boating, boater etc. You need a search statement on your topic Example: (plastic or lithium or rechargeable) and batter* and electrolyt*

Search large databases (Compendex, INSPEC, Web of Science) and save good searches as search (subject) alerts. 3. Citation alert when 1 specific paper is cited.
