Goals of Committee • Improve the maintenance of the RiverWalk • Committee Tour of Riverwalk March 2008 • Tour government officials to make aware of deferred maintenance • Continue to visit RiverWalk and make city aware of issues • Hosted Luncheon w/ Billy Turner, speaker, and key stakeholders to facilitate short and long-term goals for RiverWalk • Enhance Awareness of the RiverWalk • Working on Video/Audio of Riverwalk for PSA’s to CGTV, local TV and Radio, Hotels • Participated in Chamber of Commerce Radio show w/ Mike Gaymon • Participated in CGTV 20 minute TV show • Working on a new, vibrant brochure with CCVB and City showcasing unique features of Riverwalk • Increase Usage of the River Walk • Added key stakeholders to committee: Scott Ressmeyer (Country’s), Cathy Anderson (CSU) • Coordinating with Uptown, Whitewater, CCVB, Parks & Recreation to more agressively promote

Thank you, Mayor, City Council and City Manager! You listened to our concerns, reviewed current scope of work and budget for RiverWalk, toured to see deferred maintenance and needs, and agreed to move forward on new plan for constant maintenance.

What areas need additional focus and funding? Replace all signage Repair all railings Pressure-Wash all wall and surface areas Upgrade all restrooms Repair and/or upgrade water fountains Repair Gazebos
Pressure washing all surfaces Formal portion of the RiverWalk was designed to allow for flooding, thus concrete areas are discolored
Need to complete our goal of a continuous RiverWalk. The remaining areas to complete include: • 2,000 lf Oliver Dam • 650 lf Bibb Mill • 500 lf City Mills • 900 lf 13th-14thSt.
Need for a RiverWalk Oversight Committee • Ensure appropriate and timely city maintenance, repair and replacement

Total System Services, Inc. TSYS was able to stay in Uptown Columbus and construct a 600,000 sq. ft. campus along the RiverWalk

Port Columbus Civil War Naval Museum celebrates the history of naval wartime boats at the edge of South Commons along the Chattahoochee River.
Whitewater enthusiast enjoy the short but challenging runs below the Eagle & Phenix Mill. The proposed Whitewater will stretch 2 ¼ miles and is estimated to bring hundreds of thousands of visitors a year to the area. Dykes Blackmon enjoys the Whitewater Experience!
Whitewater Opportunity • RiverWalk gave our community a vital, quality identity for Columbus that we were missing. • Region has been looking for an “IT” that would make Columbus unique. • Chance to deliver on our earlier promise of a true “Riverfront Development” plan for Columbus and Phenix City. • For every one person that gets in the water, experts predict 10 people will be there to watch!
