Average attendance for UK students in 2010/11

Y12 students = 91.7%

Y13students = 89.6%

The link to achievement is that if attendance is over 95% in the 6th form:

students get 3 grades higher across their 4 AS subjects compared to those with less than 85% attendance

  • There is also clear evidence to link school attendance with pupil attainment.
  • Of pupils who miss more than 50% of school only 3% manage to achieve five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C including Maths and English.
  • 73% of pupils who have over 95% attendance achieve five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C.
