The charcoal used to heat tobacco in the hookah increases the health risks by producing high levels of carbon monoxide, metals, and cancer-causing chemicals. 5. E-Cigarettes Electronic cigarettes are handheld nicotine-delivery devices that are currently swirling in controversy. They are similar to a regular cigarette but doesn’t have all of the tobacco and other chemicals in it. It simply just has nicotine and water in it. The water is heated and becomes water vapor to simulate the smoke of a regular cigarette. There are cartridges that you place inside that are filled with the nicotine, which is how you get the nicotine. E-cigarettes have an equivalent amount of nicotine as a whole pack of cigarettes, which can raise your blood pressure and put a lot of strain on your heart, which can increase the chance of having a heart attack.
