  3. Description • What can you learn from the title of the artwork? I can learn that if a friend is in pain, you can help them by bringing them up. 2. What subjects in the artwork can you recognize? The subject I can recognize is bullying. • Looking at the elements of design, describe what qualities you see: -line: streaky, smooth -shape: Circle, squares, irregular shapes. -color: Tan, Black, brown, pink -value: left side is bright, Right side is dark -form: Cube, Sphere, cylinder -texture: smooth -space: closed, shallow 4. What media and techniques did the artist use?

  4. Analysis • Emphasis: Most of the attention is drawn towards the top left. • Balance: No balance. The mood is sincere because he is helping a friend. • Proportion: The proportion in this picture is normal • Pattern: There is no pattern in the piece • Rhythm or Movement: There is Rhythm and movement because the main pathway that my eyes follow is shoes and letters. • Unity and variety: The boy helping out the girl that is one way that the picture comes together.

  5. Interpretation • Is there symbolism in the artwork? What do you think it means? It is symbolism because it is a act of goodness • What feeling do you think the artist wanted to give the viewer when looking at the work? The artist wants the viewer to help a friend in need. • Does the work remind you of other things you have experienced? No it does not • How does the work relate to other ideas or events in the world and/or in your other classes? Well sometimes when kids just want to be plain mean

  6. Judgment • What parts of the work make you feel it is a success or failure? It is a good picture because it is a act of kindness • What criteria (think of the style of the work) can you list to help others judge this work? You can list the contrast and the way she gets helped up. • How unique is the work? Why do you feel this work is or isn’t unique? It is very unique because a girl that was sad could’ve did bad things to herself and he helped her to prevent that • What are some improvements you feel the artist could have made to the work? I honestly don’t think there could have been any improvements to this piece.
