  3. What is mParent Application? Provides an easy way to keep up to date with school notifications and events, and simplifies contacting their children’s teachers, also provides parents with information about their children assignments, grades, attendance and behavior.

  4. How to download the application? • . To Download the application Parent should open the application’s URL from mobile’s browser.

  5. Application Login On opening application parent will be asked to enter domain , username and password given by the school.

  7. Application (Cont’d) Login (Cont’d) For Setting server credentials in BlackBerry and Java Supported Devices: Parent can press “Settings” in options menu.

  10. Application (Cont’d) Notifications (Cont’d) For Filtering Notifications in iPhone: Parent can press on icon on the top right of the screen to filter list by each category.

  12. Application (Cont’d) Notifications (Cont’d) For Filtering Notifications in BlackBerry and Java Supported Devices: Parent can press “Filter” in options menu.

  13. Application (Cont’d) Reminders Reminders tab includes any school calendar event, it has two views: 1- Calendar View: Shows all events. 2- List View: Shows only upcoming events in the next three days. Icon representation Calendar event Exam event Assignment event

  14. Application (Cont’d) Reminders (Cont’d) For iPhone, Parent can press on the left top of the screen to switch to list view mode. To get back to the calendar view mode parent can press on the left top of the screen. For BlackBerry and Java supported devices, parent can press on “List View” in options menu to switch to list view mode. To get back to the calendar view mode parent can press on “Calendar View”.

  15. Application (Cont’d) Reminders (Cont’d) For Android, parent can press on “List View” in options menu to switch to list view mode. To get back to the calendar view mode parent can press on “Calendar View”.

  16. Application (Cont’d) Reminders (Cont’d) • On opening any upcoming calendar event parent can apply two actions. • Add to My Calendar • Set Reminder • For BlackBerry and Java supported devices, parent has these two options mixed by clicking “Add to calendar” option.

  17. Application (Cont’d) Reminders (Cont’d) For iPhone and Android, On pressing “Add to My Calendar” parent will be asked whether to allow the application to access his calendar or not. Please press “Ok”. Event then will be added to Handset’s Calendar.

  18. Application (Cont’d) Reminders (Cont’d) For BlackBerry and Java supported devices, an alert will appear asking the parent to enter alert time in unit of hours (0-23), for example “0” represents “12 am” and “23” represents “11 pm”.

  19. Application (Cont’d) Reminders (Cont’d) On iPhone, on pressing “Set Reminder” parent will be asked to specify the date on which he wants to be reminded.

  24. Application (Cont’d) Progress : Assignments (Cont’d) For filtering assignments: In Android , select “filter” from menu. In BlackBerry , select “Next 2 weeks”,”Prev.2 weeks”.

  29. Application (Cont’d) Progress : Contact teacher Provide parents with teacher contact and ability to send note to the teacher.

  30. FAQ • Parent failure point and expected reasons • Parent couldn’t open the link to the application. APN (access point name) configuration problems, parent should try open to any other URL to make sure the APN is correctly configured. If failed to open other URL, parent should contact his service provider.

FAQ (Cont’d) • Parent failure point and expected reasons • Parent got message when opening the welcome page link  that his mobile isn’t supported • Device model can’t be supported. • Parent is using the non default mobile browser, for example Opera or Firefox. Parent should use the mobile native browser.

FAQ (Cont’d) • Parent failure point and expected reasons • Parent faces a problem while downloading the application • Most probably it’s a temporary problem that  will be solved by retrying the scenario again. • Parent didn’t press ‘YES’ when mobile prompt him to install UNTRUSTEDapplication.

FAQ (Cont’d) • Parent failure point and expected reasons • Parent couldn’t find the application after installation Application installation place differ from device to another depending on some factors like device manufacture, device OS. Please refer to each category of devices section in the coming slides to know installation folder.

FAQ (Cont’d) • Parent failure point and expected reasons • Parent using Nokia S60 (Symbian OS 9.x) receives a message “Certificate may not be valid or expired” while downloading application Device time need to be set to correct value, User won’t be able to install application if mobile time not correctly set.
