  1. Movie Maker Easier than you think! (from Nicole C.)

  2. http://explore.live.com/windows-live-movie-maker?os=other Where to get MovieMaker:

  3. This is the basic screen you will see when you open MovieMaker.

  4. Click “Title” to insert a title slide

  5. Add in whatever text you want in the text box – just like PowerPoint

  6. The “Duration” drop menu under the Edit ribbon lets you change how long each text slide/image/video slide etc appear in the video – the automatic setting is 7 seconds, that will be too long for most slides.

  7. You can add more text slides by clicking “Title” again and inputting more information in the text box than just a title.

  8. When you’re ready to add photos and outside video, simply click “Add videos and photos” under the “Home” ribbon

  9. This brings up a normal search box from which you can find media on your desktop

  10. Ready to add music? Finding free music online is simple. Doing a Google search will provide you with multiple options.

  11. I chose last.fm, but there are many other options available as well.

  12. Once the music is saved onto your drive, adding it in is easy. Simply click “Add music” under the “Home” ribbon. You will have the option to start it at a specific point in your Video, or use one track throughout by clicking “Add Music”.

  13. Ready to add in the credits? Just click “Credits” under the “Home” ribbon – easy, right?

  14. Make sure to include your APA style references for all images/videos/music & to include a Fair Use Statement at the end.

  15. When you save your project with the normal disk logo it will save it as an editable MovieMakerProject – not in a video format. Do save as you go along, but keep in mind you haven’t published it yet.

  16. When you are ready to publish into a video format, just click “Save Movie”. “Recommended for this project” is probably the easiest. Since these are short films you shouldn’t need to further compress the file.

  17. This will automatically save the file into a .wmv format, which will upload to vimeo just fine.

  18. Now it’s going to convert. This will take longer than you think, leave yourself extra time for the conversion process. I suggest making a sandwich while it works. Mmm…Sandwiches.

  19. Yay it’s done! Wasn’t that easy?

  20. Now We’re Ready to Upload

  21. Once your account is created, just click the big blue “Upload a video” button

  22. More big blue buttons to click!

  23. You know how to do this part, right?

  24. While it’s uploading, take a second to add in a title and description.

  25. It looks like we’re done, isn’t that exciting?

  26. Oh wait, we’re being punished for not paying for the upgrade. This is the other part that takes longer than you think. Maybe go make another sandwich. Or take a walk. Walks are nice.

  27. Wasn’t that a nice walk? And look! It’s almost done!

  28. Yay! We did it!
