Vs. 4-5 Nehemiah responds by prayer-these men were enemies of YHWH who blasphemed his work • Vs 6-13 • Vs 6 The people had a mind to work • Vs 8 Opposition by conspiracy • They sought YHWH for strength and Guidance Ps. 46:1 Vs. 10 – Opposition by defeatism and discouragement What to do when under attack

Vs. 13-23 Nehemiah sets up a defense program among the workers-Watchmen on the Walls Jer 6:17, Hosea 9:8, Ps 63:6 • Our defense program – Prayer, Faith, Action • Nehemiah was a man of Prayer and a man of faith • He was a man of wisdom and common sense • His faith was put into action by works • Phil 4:6, Matt 7:7, Heb 11:1-3, James 2:14-26, 1 John 5:4 What to do when under attack

Vs 1-6 Opposition from internal strife-this will tear a ministry apart James 4, Ps 120:7, 140:2, Prov. 15:18, Prov 18:6, Prov 26:21 • Vs. 7-8 Nehemiah did 3 things • Reflected upon the matter-He used wisdom before taking action-He did not react in the flesh Col 4:5-6 • He confronted the Nobles/Leaders ;he courageously faced and rebuked the offending party • He directly charged them with moral wrong doing Coping with the fifth column-Chp 5

He urged them to consider their testimony to the surrounding nations A leader must not only expose problems, they must provide solutions The enemy will try to send you on a wild goose chase, that does not amount to anything but troubles-we must be led by His Spirit Coping with the fifth column

  7. Vs. 9-13 The House of Judah, the Jewish people knew YHWH wouldn’t bless them if they continued to disobey in these matters. We must walk in love towards the brethren if we want YHWH’s blessing in our lives 1 Cor. 13:1-7, Gal 5:13, Phil 1:9-11, 1 Thes. 4:9, John 13:34-35, Matt 22:36-39, Deut. 6:4-5 Coping with the fifth column

Vs. 13-19 – 1 Cor. 9:12 Qualities of Leaders • They must have a capacity for moral indignation • Compassion for the oppressed • Compassion for social justice • Courage to denounce evil even when rich and influential men are involved • Nehemiah was consious of the fact that He laboured for the approval of YHWH not men Coping with the fifth column

Vs. 1-5 Opposition by Intrigue • The enemy will try to get you off the Word so he can catch you off guard-We must stay focused on His Word • He comes to steal, kill and destroy YHWH’s people, especially those who preach Yeshua and Torah Vs. 5-9 Opposition by slander Prov. 6:16-19 They tried to create a scandal- Nehemiah did not fall for it. In the Work of YHWH Quitters never win and winners never quit A walk of nerves – chp 6

  10. Vs. 7 – Slander and False accusation-Leaders are led by God not men’s opinions. • Vs 8-9- His response is simple denial and prayer. YHWH is our defense • Vs. 10-19 According to Torah, only Levites(Numbers 8:7) were allowed in the Temple. A word of knowledge was given him- He rested his case with YHWH • Nehemiah would not violate YHWH’s Torah-no matter what, he was obedient to the Torah • The enemy will constantly try to put pressure on us. But YHWH has already delivered us! 1 Co4 15:58 A walk of nerves

  11. Vs. 15-19 Opposition by Fear • The Word tells us to Fear NOT • Gen 26:24 • 1 Kings 6:16 • Isaiah 41:10-13, 43: 1-4 • Matthew 10:30-31 • The enemy will loose his confidence when he sees you will not give up, give in or compromise A walk of nerves
