  2. What is environmental science? • Environmental science is a mulitdisciplinary academic field that integrates physical, biological and information sciences to the study of the environment, and the solution of environmental problems.

  3. Components include: • Atmospheric sciences • Ecology • Environmental chemistry • Geosciences

  4. What constitutes an environment? • Biotic describes a living or once living component of a community; for example organisms, such as plants and animals. Biotic means living organisms. • Abiotic components are those non-living chemical and physical parts of the environment that affect ecosystems.
