  1. Kirk Music DepartmentBand•Chorus•Orchestra • Presented by: • Maddie Campbell, Madison Reeder, Amanda Pobanz, • Navjot Kaur, Marissa Eaton, Temitope Osundina • Mrs. Lockhart, Director, Kirk Music Department

  2. 6th Grade Band “Beginner Band” • Allowing students to begin a new instrument after elementary school • Focus on building basic music skills • Preparing students for more difficult music in Concert Band • Preparing students for the performance trip where they will play with 7th and 8th grade students

  3. 7th & 8th Grade Band“Concert Band” • Students at the next levels of playing • Open to students who have already played instruments before • 6th Grade students who are more advanced can test out of Band 6 and can be placed in Band 7 and Jazz Band • Additional playing opportunities (MS Band Day, Pep Rallies)

  4. Orchestra • The class has several levels of progressive ability • Limited opportunity for new beginning students, based on teacher availability • Ensembles participate in the Spring Music trip in one combined ensemble

  5. Kirk Jazz Band Premiere Performance Ensemble • Auditioned group open to 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders • Students perform at regular concerts and additional venues [Open House, School Showcases, Pep Rallies, PBS Presentations] • This ensemble performs separately at the Spring Competition Trip

  6. Chorus • Open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students by teacher recommendation • Students work together in a no-pressure singing environment • Music reading and performance skills are learned through many different styles of music. • Performs for the Spring Music Competition

  7. Additional Playing Opportunities • All-State Band, Chorus, and Jazz Band • DMEA Solo & Ensemble Festival • Music In Our Schools Month Concert with CHS • Middle School Band Day at a CHS Football Game • End of the year music trip: • 6 Flags Great Adventure or Hershey Park
