This curriculum aims to personalize the learning experience for S3 pupils by offering a broad general education and giving them choices in various subject areas. It also prepares them for progression into the senior phase.

CURRICULUM FOR EXCELLENCEPersonalising the Curriculum for S3 The S3 Pupil Experience • During S3 pupils will continue to follow a broad general education, studying subjects across all curricular areas • All pupils will study English and Mathematics • Choices will be made, drawn from the remaining curriculum areas - Modern Languages, Science, Social Studies, Technologies, Expressive Arts • All pupils will study the core subjects of RME, PE, SE and PeP (Personal Entitlement Period) • Pupils will continue with their wider achievement option from S2

CURRICULUM FOR EXCELLENCEPersonalising the Curriculum for S3 Making Choices – The Process • Curriculum information is available to download from school web-site • Parents Information Evening – Tuesday 8th January 2019 • S2 Reports issued – Wednesday 9th January 2019 • S2 Parents Evening – Monday 14th January 2019 • Pupil Interviews w/b 14thJanuary 2019 • Personalisation forms issued to pupils - discussions at home with parents/carers – Monday 21st January 2019 • Submission of completed forms by Friday 25th January 2019

  4. CURRICULUM FOR EXCELLENCEPersonalising the Curriculum for S3 • Pupils will continue to study within the Experiences and Outcomes of Curriculum for Excellence • Learning experiences will be designed to ensure pupils are preparing appropriately for new National Qualifications

CURRICULUM FOR EXCELLENCEProgression into the senior phase – S4 • Pupils will study 7 subjects from those studied in S3 (including English and Maths) • Pupils will progress to National Qualifications provided by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) at either: • National 3/Level 3 • National 4/Level 4 • National 5/Level 5
