  2. Background • What’s the purpose of the working group? • Migrate the essence of the schedule and cost ANSI X12 transaction sets (806, 839) and UN/EDIFACT messages (PROTAP, PROCST) to an XML schema format • Intent is to: • Address formal government contract requirements • Facilitate data exchange between other related entities such as a prime and their subs

  3. OAGi Proposed Plan – PM Schemas • Target complete date: 2005 • Project definition phase: Initial steps complete • Construction phase: March through July • Key outputs: • Use case scenarios. Complete (used ebXML worksheet). Submitted to OAGi and CEFACT TGB6. • Process Flow (UML) • Transaction data models • Pilot/testing phase: Dependent on sponsor and software vendor involvement

  4. Influences and Politics • Sponsorship for pilot has slowed – AF experiencing change in personnel at CIO level • Taking a dual path for content development – OAGi and CEFACT • Why? • AIA potential endorsement of European Boost Aero (CEFACT) means migration to this XML schema standard • Interest from European community (A&D, construction) • OAGi and CEFACT require similar source materials to create XML schemas (CEFACT has additional requirements) • Easy to take source materials and recast in applicable schema approach • Both use ebXML core components
