  3. Symptoms Cutaneous Anthrax Inhalation Anthrax Gastrointestinal Anthrax Small blisters and/or blisters Painless black skin ulcers surrounded by swelling Fever and chills Confusion or dizziness Extreme tiredness Nausea and bloody vomiting Bloody diarrhea Fainting Swelling of abdomen

Life Cycle • Anthrax stays dormant in soil or on grass until eaten by large herbivores • Once the animal dies anthrax can be spread through direct contact of the animal, eating the animal, or in some cases the anthrax goes airborne and can infect through the respiratory system • About 100-200 people die each year

  5. Treatments • Antibiotics successfully cure about 99% for cutaneous anthrax, 55% for inhalation anthrax, and 60% for gastrointestinal anthrax
