Coming AFI 21-101 ACC SUP1 Changes • Prior to engine start, engine run supervisor will now ensure pretest procedures listed in applicable T.O.s are C/Wand documented on the Pre-Run Worksheets • In addition to the current Hush House/Test Cell requirements: • Check all door tracks for obstructions, debris, dirt • Check air inlet baffles & screens for rivet security, obstructions, debris • Check test bay & trim pads for cleanliness; check augmentor for dirt/damage • Inspect engine & aircraft for loose hardware, debris, tools • Ensure runbay is washed down & free of all FO before engine start • Inspect engine bellmouth for serviceability • Ensure tools & test equipment are stored before engine run • Add engine run facility FO inspection to QA Routine Inspection List

Hot CAF FOD Issues • FOD Cost Accounting: AFI 91-204 requires actual damage cost reporting; sales / exchange price of engines and modules is paid out of the O&M fund • Deployed FOD Ops: Units must ensure FOD programs are deployed • Test Cell operations require attention: Voids in tool/hardware control being tightened up in AFI 21-101 ACC SUP1 • LSET interest item • Senior leadership must promote a “team approach” to FOD investigating to determine root cause • Wing FOD NCO, QA, Propulsion Flight and Flight Safety

HOT MAF FOD ISSUES • FOD Prevention belongs to every commander • Senior leadership must promote a “team approach” to FOD investigating to determine root cause • Deployed FOD Ops: Units must ensure FOD programs are deployed • FOD Cost Accounting: AFI 91-204 Safety OI requires actual damage cost reporting

Responsibilities • Vice Wing Commander: • FOD prevention program manager • Assigns FOD/DOP program monitor • TSgt or above…target engine or crew chief AFSCs • Provides guidance to ensure FOD investigations determine root cause • Reviews/Analyzes all FOD mishap reports for trends • Coordinates prevention needs with airfield manager when necessary • Ensures FOD prevention is part of QA inspections • Budgets for funds to support the local program • Chairs FOD Prevention Committee Meeting (MXG/CC in absence) • Held monthly if not meeting standard; quarterly if meeting • Ensures FOD program/monitor in-place while deployed

Responsibilities (Cont’d) • FOD Monitor: • Works for CV…location at CV’s discretion, but normally in QA • Involved in each FOD investigation • Monitors/Recommends changes to FOD prevention training • Inspects/Reports damaged pavement near aircraft parking/taxi areas • Develops procedures to document & perform spot inspections • Develops a deployable FOD program and trains deployable monitors • ACC has provided each monitor with a deployable template
