  3. “CONNECT” OUR LOGISTICIANS • Agile, Assured, 24 / 7 Data Capability into the Enterprise • Plug / Un-plug as Required • Enable “Sense and Respond” Logistics • Include Log, Per, Med & Eng (Operational Sustainment) • MODERNIZE THEATER DISTRIBUTION • Single Proponent • Enable Control With 100% Visibility • Single Doctrine, Force Structure & Training • IMPROVE FORCE RECEPTION • APOD / SPOD; Distribution; Life Support • Strategic Connectivity - Theater Log C2 Node • Embedded Sustainment Capability • Life Support – Division in 5 Days • INTEGRATE THE SUPPLY CHAIN • Single Proponent • Eliminate Stovepipe Suboptimization Army FOCUS SPEED & PRECISION • CRITICAL TO SUCCESS • Our Commitment • Joint Integration • Policy Modernization • Refined Doctrine • New Force Structure • Standards and Discipline B. B. Morgan/DALO-SMI (703-692-9577), DSN 222-9577, morganbb@hqda.army.mil

  4. Exploitation of UID data will be tied to emerging systems, business practices and procedures. To reap benefits of UID, Army must move beyond simple marking of its assets. Army must integrate UID data into its logistics-related information systems to enable all echelons of command to view the same data. UID CANNOT be implemented without necessary funding for AIT infrastructure, AIS mods and communications network upgrades Outreach to suppliers is critical. DCMA role is understated. Once fully implemented, UID will provide an unprecedented Joint data capability that will contribute to information dominance on the battlefield. BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT B. B. Morgan/DALO-SMI (703-692-9577), DSN 222-9577, morganbb@hqda.army.mil

  5. ASA(ALT) AMC HQDA, DCS, G-4 Life Cycle Management Commands (LCMC) PEO/PM DCMA Suppliers ARMY PLAYERS B. B. Morgan/DALO-SMI (703-692-9577), DSN 222-9577, morganbb@hqda.army.mil

  6. Goal 1: Improve operational readiness. Goal 2: Enhance asset visibility and accountability. Goal 3: Preserve the organic and commercial industrial base. Goal 4: Lower Total Life Cycle costs. Goal 5: Reduce workload on the soldier, industrial artisan, and logistician. STRATEGIC GOALS • EACH GOAL HAS ITS OWN OBJECTIVES, BENEFITS, EXPECTED OUTCOMES, • CHALLENGES, ASSUMLPTIONS AND METRICS - B. B. Morgan/DALO-SMI (703-692-9577), DSN 222-9577, morganbb@hqda.army.mil

  7. Integration of UID into Army logistics systems and processes. Expansion and adaptation of Army's AIT infrastructure. Analytical studies to quantify Army's AIT/UID requirements and focus investments. Continued improvements to existing and planned telecommunications networks. Methods to achieve and maintain data quality and interoperability. Substantial resource commitments. Regular flag-level oversight. WHAT ARMY NEEDS - SUPPORT REQUIRED AT ALL LEVELS - B. B. Morgan/DALO-SMI (703-692-9577), DSN 222-9577, morganbb@hqda.army.mil

  8. Centralized governance Decentralized execution Phased implementation Finance Education Information and communications technology KEY STRATEGIC ELEMENTS B. B. Morgan/DALO-SMI (703-692-9577), DSN 222-9577, morganbb@hqda.army.mil

  9. Scope Process management Program timeline Information systems Packaging (RFID requirements in depots) Financial Contracting Metrics CHALLENGES B. B. Morgan/DALO-SMI (703-692-9577), DSN 222-9577, morganbb@hqda.army.mil

  10. Tactical, operational and strategic commanders will be able to share the same asset identification, cost, configuration and location data. UID data will lessen the cost of generating and sustaining forces without reducing warfighting capabilities and readiness. The DoD central UID Registry will be capable of being linked to dynamic Army decision support systems. UID supports all DoD Serialized Item Management (SIM) applications. Organic repair depots and arsenals will use UID data as a means to troubleshoot production problems, manage configurations, and restore inherent equipment reliability when unacceptable Mean Time Between Failures are discovered. UID supports LEAN manufacturing techniques. BENEFITS - PARTIAL LISTING - B. B. Morgan/DALO-SMI (703-692-9577), DSN 222-9577, morganbb@hqda.army.mil
