  4. DWI test on Silja Symphony Engine: Wärtsilä 9L46 ME4 (8145 kW) Tested systems: • Servo system - needle actuated by control oil pressure • test time: 1996 - 5.10.1998 • accumulated running time: 3000 h • Ganser system - needle lift actuated by water pressure • no control oil system needed • test time: 7.10.1998 - 31.8.1999 • accumulated running time: 576 h Technology H:\MJKU\GHn\Kalvot\ESMA_3.7.PPT 2(5) 8.11.1999 GHn/MJKU

  5. Current NOX reduction methods - DWI on M/S Silja Symphony and M/S Silja Serenade • All main engines 2 x 4 x Wärtsilä 9L46 have been converted to Direct Water Injection in June 1999 Technology H:\MJKU\GHn\Kalvot\F&E\GHn11.PPT 4.8.1999 GHn/MJKU

  6. Direct Water Injection on M/S Mistral Technology H:\MJKU\GHn\Kalvot\Mistral.PPT 6/1 GHn/MJKU 3.2.1999

  7. Marine engines: Power Plant engines: Direct Water Injection reference list November -99 Installed/on order: Totally: 186 cylinders Technology H:\MJKU\GHn\Kalvot\DWIAug99.PPT 7/1 GHn/MJKU 7.9.1999 Updated 4.11.1999

  8. Status of DWI on Silja Symphony/Serenade • The DWI systems are certified according to ISO 8178 and • SJÖFS 1997:28 by MTC AB (authorised measurement consultant) • NOx < 6 g/kWh (system sealed by MTC AB) • Accumulated running hours: • Symphony: ~ 1400 h on three main engines • ~ 5100 h on main engine No 4 • Serenade: ~ 1900 h on each main engine (4 engines) Technology H:\MJKU\GHn\Kalvot\ESMA_3.7.PPT 8(5) 8.11.1999 GHn/MJKU

  9. Status of DWI Conclusions: 186 cylinders with DWI installed or on order Commercial product Technology H:\MJKU\GHn\Kalvot\ESMA_3.7.PPT 9(5) 8.11.1999 GHn/MJKU
