  1. 5 Reasons To Go Organic As parents, we want the best for our children. There are two things that will always remain a priority – we want our kids to be safe and we want our kids to be healthy. When it comes to food, introducing organic food into their diet at an early age is a good way to start right. While organic and non-GMO foods can be a little expensive when compared to other foods, the benefits far outweigh the costs. Here are five reasons you should feed your children organic baby food: 1.Reduced Risk of Pesticides: Organic foods have a lower risk of pesticide contamination. Conventionally grown fruits and vegetables are sprayed with pesticides to kill insects and other pests that may otherwise damage crops. Some of these pesticides can cause serious neurological damage, including issues related to hyperactivity and ADHD. 2.Organic Food Is More Nutritious: The scientific community has largely been divided about the nutritional benefits of eating organic food. But a research paper published by the British Journal of Nutrition has found that organic food, namely dairy and meat, contain about 50% more omega-3 fatty acids when compared to non-organic food. Similarly, another study published by the same institute found that organic produce like carrots, broccoli, apples, and blueberries, have a higher percentage of antioxidants and other beneficial compounds like anthocyanins and flavanols. 3.Less Antibiotics: While the FDA has limited the use of some antibiotics for livestock, there are a few loopholes that can be used to inject synthetic growth hormones into animals (with the exception of poultry) to help them grow quickly or produce more milk. Some of the hormones make way into our system making us prone to antibiotic resistance. Organic meat and dairy produce contain far less antibiotics when compared to non-organic foods. 4.Better Taste: Do organic fruits and vegetables taste better? Fans of organic farming certainly believe so! Scientists have found that when left to their elements to defend themselves against insects and other pests, plants release an antifungal compound and produce an aroma that attracts counter- attacking insects like caterpillars. These flavors and aroma enhance the taste of the food and even make them more nutritious.

  2. 5. Helps Us Leave Cleaner Environment For Our Children: Some of the harmful pesticides and fertilizers that we use to increase yield can be damaging for the environment. Using organic pesticides and natural fertilizers not only helps enhance taste, but also ensures that we leave a better and cleaner world for our children. It is, however, important to know where your food comes from. If your organic fruits and veggies have to travel thousands of miles from far away countries like China or Mexico, you’ve might want to reconsider the environmental impact of your decision. That’s why, at Little Spoon, we source fruits and vegetables as close to our kitchen as possible when preparing our organic baby food. Resource Box: The Author manages a health and wellness blog that helps moms make the right food and lifestyle decisions for their babies. She also helps promote organic baby food and ensures new moms make healthy choices.
