  1. 4 Tips To Feed Your Fussy Baby Ideally, babies between six to twenty-four months are easy to feed; they are yet to develop a true like or dislike for foods. Some babies would like to be assertive about their food choices, leading to a picky-eater situation. Here’s how you can encourage your child to try new foods: Combine healthy food with something your baby loves: Introduce healthy foods like kale, spinach, and avocados by sneaking them into their food. Prepare half a portion of their favorite food and half a portion of the new food and then alternate between the two. Or, prepare a smoothie of your baby’s favorite foods and sneak the new veggie in the blend. For example, at Little Spoon, we offer unique quality homemade baby food blends like the kale-white bean-pear-basil-quinoa-avocado combo –they’re yummy, nutritious, and ready to serve. Don’t force feed: Children who are teething or ill may lose their appetite, but regain it in time. Timing is important. They’re ravenous one moment, only to refuse food the next – this is normal and part of their growth spurts. If your child is busy exploring something, she might not appreciate being strapped to the high chair. Tune in to your child’s needs and moods before you set out to feed them. Focus only on the food: Children who are focused only on eating tend to be better eaters when compared to those that are distracted by TV or smartphones. Before you begin feeding, make sure you have switched off the TV, kept your phone in silent mode, or kept pets away from the room. Allow children to play with their food: Playing with the food keeps the child interested. They may put the food in their mouth unintentionally when playing. If nothing else works, leave the child alone! Your attempts at getting them to eat a healthy meal don’t mean much if your child is not ready. Forcing them is only likely to make them even fussier.
