  1. A Brief Overview about the Lithium Deep Cycle Marine Battery — Is it Worth? Using the right battery for your boat and doing routine maintenance will save you money while ensuring your battery’s optimal lifespan. By now you have probably heard of lithium deep cycle marine batteries. But what sets them apart from others? Are they really worth the money? Here are all the basics you need to know! There are four types of marine batteries according to their chemical composition: wet cell, gel cell, Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM), and lithium. Wet cell, gel cell, and AGM are all types of lead-acid batteries with much older technology and some significant drawbacks. For instance, AGM batteries have a long lifespan and self-discharging rat, but they are also quite sensitive to overcharging. Lithium batteries, in contrast, are relatively newer and more advanced. There are several types: cobalt oxide, manganese oxide, titanate, and nickel cobalt aluminum oxide. Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) is considered the most reliable for marine use. The benefits of lithium deep cycle marine batteries Imagine you’re sailing out on your favorite spot, spending a relaxing time with your family and friends. Suddenly, the weather gets too hot, and you seek shade under the hardtop to protect yourself. But what about your batteries? Sadly, lead-acid batteries don’t handle heat all that well, and every 10°F rise in temperature will cut its life in half. LiFePO4 batteries are much better at withstanding high temperatures. In fact, they can last even in the harshest of conditions, whether its extreme cold, short-circuits, or sudden collision! In addition, lithium deep cycle marine batteries are known for the following advantages: •LiFePO4 batteries will recharge up to 80% of their max capacity in just 2-3hrs, compared to lead-acid batteries that require up to 10hrs. •Lithium batteries can last up to 5000 charge cycles in their entire lifespan, around 3-5 times longer than lead-acid batteries.

  2. •Lithium batteries require little to no maintenance and will only lose 2-3% of their charge every month they’re not in use. What’s more, LiFePO4 batteries are free of heavy metals, making them less toxic and much friendlier to the environment!
