  3. Where are the Rainforests • There are four main areas of equatorial climate across the world • All of these are found along between 10 o North and 10 o South of the Equator

  4. Characteristics of this climate Campa Pita, Belize • Temperatures reach above 25 o C all year round • Therefore there are no seasons in the rainforest like we have in the U.K.

  5. Characteristics of this climate • It rains every month in the rainforest • Annual rainfall is high, at least 1500mm

  6. Why is the climate like this? • The position of the sun effects the climate of Rainforest SUN • Because the sun shines directly over the equator the energy from the suns rays in concentrated on a smaller area making it very warm Equator

  7. ADVANTAGES High temperatures and rainfall allow many different crops to grow Many rivers can be used or transport A lot of trees can be used for furniture paper etc DISADVANTAGES Forest so dense difficult to build roads, railways for access Heavy rain = poor soil Isolation means people live subsistence Advantages and Disadvantages
