  1. 13.1 Volumes of Prisms and Cylinders What you’ll learn: To find volumes of prisms. To find volumes of cylinders.

  2. Volume Volume – the measure of the amount of space that a figure encloses. It is always measured in cubic units.

  3. Volume of a prism V=Bh where V is the volume, h is the height of the prism (from base to base) and B is the area of the base (base can be any polygon so use the appropriate area formula)

  4. Volume of a Cylinder V=πr²h where V is the volume, r is the radius and h is the height of the cylinder.

  5. Cavalieri’s Principle If 2 solids have the same height and the same cross-sectional area at every level, then they have the same volume.

  6. Find the volume of each. 1. 2. 12 in. 12 cm 4 ft 3 ft 25 cm 10 cm

  7. Find the volume of each. 15 ft 1. 2. 17 cm 25 ft 15 cm
