  2. Childhood • I was born in 1652, I don’t remember the day. • I was born in Suffolk England. • I was born into a fairly wealthy family. • I left England for Massachusetts. • My mother raised me in Roxbury.

  3. Religious Practices • I am a Puritan. • I became a minster, I preach in Salem Village.

  4. Education • I attended Harvard University and graduated in 1670.

  5. Work • I became a minister in Falmouth. A small town in Portland, Maine. • I was a minister in Salisbury for a few years. • I was then moved to Salem where I became their new minister.

  6. Connection to Salem • I moved to Salem in 1680 and became the minister. • I Had borrowed money from the Putnam family. • I left in 1683 due to my debts. • I paid it back, but I was called back because I was accused as the ring leader of the witches.

  7. Accusation • The people of Salem said I was the “ring leader”. • They said I was a virtual priest of the Devil • Cotton Mather brought to the attention my “unorthodox beliefs and practices”. • Ann Putnam said she had a vision that I had killed my first two wives. • They said my strength was the sign of the Devil.

  8. My Trial • I was taken from my home in Wells, Maine to stay in jail at Salem. • I had many enemies in Salem and they were all against me. • I was convicted of witch craft on August 3, 1692.

  9. Death • I was sentenced to execution after my trial. • I was hanged on August 19, 1692. • Right before my hanging I recited the Our Father and other prayers. • Doing that I had changed the minds of many people about the accusations and convictions.
