  2. History of Alexandrite • Alexandrite was originally discovered in the Ural Mountains of Russia in 1830 • In the 1990’s Alexandrite was discovered in Sri Lanka, Ceylon, India, Brazil, Burma, Madagascar, Zimbabwe, and Tanzania • The stones color differs depending on where you find it

History of Alexandrite (cont.) • Alexandrite from the Ural Mountain in Russia is green by daylight and red by incandescent light • Other varieties of Alexandrite may be yellowish or pink in daylight or raspberry red by incandescent light • The ideal color change would be fine emerald green to fine purplish red, but this is exceedingly rare

  4. Uses of Alexandrite • It is the 45th and 55th wedding anniversary gemstone • It is said to that Alexandrite helps fight low self-esteem, improves central nervous system disorders, and relieves spleen & pancreas problems • Tiffany’s was one of the first company's to sell Alexandrite.

  5. Alexandrite Today • Alexandrite is rare but you can buy it at different major jewelry stores • It is a very popular jewel but most people don’t have it because of it is how expensive it is. • Alexandrite is currently found in many countries
