Students are learning to respond to literature and how to choose a “just right” reading book. Writers Workshop – We write every day and establish our routine for writer’s workshop. We are making lists of things we can write about and students are beginning to make plans and first drafts of stories from their own lives. Math Workshop: We are establishing our math workshop routines. We are solving open-ended problems and explaining our mathematical thinking verbally and in writing. Science: We are exploring who scientists are and what they do. We are learning about science tools and safety during explorations. We will be exploring our 5 senses as we begin making observations about the world around us. Social Studies: Integrated into Language Arts we are learning we are a member of a school community. We are looking at why we have rules and how they affect us. REMINDERS *Please review the attached dress code. We know that it is still hot outside, but we need to remember to follow the dress code and wear appropriate clothing. Thank you for your help in this matter. *Please notify your teacher of an upcoming birthday. We will celebrate birthdays on the Friday of the birthday week. *Please see your teachers website for a specials schedule. Make sure your child has tennis shoes for PE – thanks! *If you are not receiving emails or remind 101 text message, please notify your child's teacher. *Curriculum Night is September 23rd from 6:00-7:00. We hope to see you there! Character Corner Responsibility– Showing you can be trusted with what is expected of you.
