  15. January 7, 2019 In light of the litany of issues having been identified in the Sheriff’s Report, and in consideration of the School’s historically troubled operations and legal non-compliance, action must be taken for the safety and consideration of the students. The Department does not take these matters lightly, yet faces the necessity of action being taken on the School’s accreditation and knowing that disruption of students’ education is an undesirable outcome. But, as a result of systemic failures on the part of the School, from its beginning to the present day, this situation demands action.

  16. Recommendation • Non-accredit the School • Authorize the establishment of a transition team • Membership to consist of representatives of OSDE staff, State Board of Education, Langston Hughes Academy Leadership, Tulsa Public Schools • Development of a timeline and transition for oversight, including: • Transfer of students, student records, and school funds; • Communication with families, students, community stakeholders; • Instruction of students enrolled in the School occurs; • Necessary and prudent notifications are issued to 3rd parties; and • Action, as needed, to control and wind down school operations, school finances, and resource allocation.
