  1. What does a Concrete Batching Plant do? Concrete is the basic building material of almost all modern structures. The roads you drive on and even the floors in your house are concrete. If you’ve ever wondered how the ubiquitous building block is manufactured and transported, read on to learn about the Concrete Batching Plant. A concrete batching plant combines the equipment used to produce batches of concrete. The basic materials for concrete are cementitious mixtures, water, air, and aggregate materials rocks, gravel, cement, fly ash, fume silica, slag. The batching plant will have the equipment used to produce both dry and wet mix batch concrete. There are different types of batching plants depending on the needs of your project.

  2. A batching plant may be stationary, producing concrete which is transported by concrete mixer trucks from the plant to the job site. The concrete batching plant can produce different varieties of concrete mix and can be designed for larger production needs. There are also mobile concrete batch plants, and the equipment is designed to allow maximum portability. This will allow them to set up a batching plant right at the project site, so the supply of concrete will be sufficient and uninterrupted. Essential Equipment in Concrete Batching Plants Aggregate bins Aggregate storage bins are used to store the ingredients that comprise concrete. There are two main types of aggregate storage bins, the In-Line type and the Quadrant type. Each bin has a discharge cone and 1 or 2 discharge gates for dosing the aggregate materials to the weighing hopper for weighing using load cells. Conveyors Once the weighing of the aggregate materials is done, they will be put on the conveyor to be transferred to the Auxiliary Belt Conveyor. These are concrete batch plant add-ons that enable easier transfer to transportation, which will improve the efficiency of the production process. Conveyors are used in both stationary and mobile concrete batching plants. Concrete Mixers Concrete mixing is an integral part of cement processing. The mixers will help to produce the right texture of concrete. Mixing can be done at the batch plant and the concrete will be transported to the actual construction site. Dust Control Dust control is a required component of any concrete batching plant. Dust is an inevitable byproduct of any concrete batching plant, and safety and environmental regulations require operations to have dust control units.

  3. Dust collectors and controllers are installed for the safety and health of the workers, and also of the neighboring structures when the mobile concrete batching plant is situated in a populated area. Water Chillers and Heaters The temperature of the water used in mixing concrete should be regulated, and depending on the season and geographical location of the concrete batching plant, there should be water chillers or heaters to maintain the optimum temperature of the water they will use. Control Cabin The Control Cabin is similar to a command center in a military camp. The Plant Operator is stationed there, and he has a vantage point to supervise all the activities and procedures in the entire Batching Plant. Inside the Control Cabin, the Plant Operator has a control panel connected to a desktop PC which can monitor and regulate all the elements inside the plant. Other peripheral equipment like printers and complete workstations are provided. Some of the functions that can be adjusted in the Control Cabin include the electrical, heating and cooling systems.
