    Types Of Dental Bridges

Do you know that average adults between 20 and 64 years old have three decayed

or missing teeth? To regain your missing tooth, you have multiple options including

    dental bridges.

A dental bridge is an affordable, time-tested, and low-risk treatment for missing

    teeth.

A bridge is made up of two or more crowns that are held in place by the abutment

teeth on either side of the gap. These false teeth can be made from a variety of

materials such as gold, typically they’re made from porcelain to aesthetically blend

    in with your natural teeth.

Here are four types of dental bridges that your dentist may suggest.

    traditional dental bridges

    Traditional Dental Bridges

Traditional dental bridges are the most common types of dental bridges, and are

usually made of ceramic or porcelain fused to metal. It can be used when you have

natural teeth on both sides of the gap created by your missing tooth. Bridges are

even strong enough to replace molars.

    Cantilever Bridges

Cantilever bridges second type of dental bridges for replacing missing teeth. But it

is suggested in case when natural teeth are only present on one side of a missing

tooth. Cantilever bridge is not very common as Traditional dental bridge anymore

and is not recommended in the back of the mouth where it can put too much force

on other teeth and damage them.

    Maryland Bridges

As traditional bridge, a Maryland bridge can only be used when you have a natural

tooth on each side of the gap caused by the missing tooth or teeth. Maryland

Bridge also called a resin-bonded bridge is made of porcelain, porcelain fused to

metal or plastic teeth and gums supported by a metal or porcelain framework.

Important thing is that Maryland bridges aren't as strong as traditional bridges, and

thus have a higher failure rate if used for more than one tooth.

    Implant-Supported Dental Bridge

As name define implant Supported Dental Bridge, these bridges are supported by

dental implants. It can be used when you have more than one tooth missing.
