There were many slaves in Puerto Rico for a long time. Until Emancipation Day (March 22nd) • Emancipation Day in any country is the day in which the country made slavery illegal. It is celebrated on different days. In Puerto Rico it is celebrated on March 22nd.
Celebration • It is tradition for Puerto Ricans to learn dances for Emancipation Day. The dances are the Plena and the Bomba. They also study their history and honor famous black Civil Rights Leaders. Communities in the entire island get together with family to sing, dance, feast, and rejoice.
La celebración • Me gusta participar en El Día de Emancipación. Amo bailar y comer como hacen en El Día de Emancipación. Me gusta visitar país con cultura rica como Puerto Rico. Sus historia es muy interesante a mí. La historia de los esclavos es increíble a una persona regular como yo.
