  1. FNST Meeting, August 12-14, 2008 • Objectives of the meeting: 1- Review Progress on R&D, FNST issues, and ITER TBM 2- Discussion of the nuclear issues and testing strategy for the next step Fusion Nuclear Facility, FNF (VNS/CTF/ST/FDF) • Notes: • In addition to the “regular” members of the FNST team, the meeting will be attended by: • Members of teams exploring designs for FNF (e.g. CTF/ST team led by Dr. Martin Peng, ORNL; and the FDF team led by Dr. Ron Stambaugh, GA) • A number of scientists and engineers from the community who wish to learn about and contribute to FNST, FNF, etc. • A number of people from industry doing SBIR for FNST

Meeting Format • Tuesday: Progress on R&D, FNST issues, and ITER TBM • Regular Meeting Format: Presentations followed by short periods of Q&A • Note that the time allocated on the agenda for each presentation includes discussion time. Ask the session chairs to keep us on time. • Wednesday and Thursday until 3 p.m.: Workshop format for discussion of the nuclear issues and testing strategy for the next step Fusion Nuclear Facility, FNF. • Session 6: Presentations on FNST fundamental aspects are given. These presentations provide some background information and summarize key conclusions from previous studies on FNST and FNF • Session 7: Provides examples of preliminary designs for FNF and explains approaches and issues • Session 8-11: Devoted to discussions of special key topics related to FNF design and FNST testing. • For each session, a set of well identified key questions are posed (listed on the agenda) • For each session there are two leaders: Discussion Facilitator (takes lead on conducting the session) and Summary Preparer (takes lead on preparing the summary) • Session 12: Summary of discussions on FNF. The Summary Preparer and Discussion Facilitator for sessions 8-11 will provide summaries of their sessions.
