  2. The Chinese WPAN working group had a special session on December 22nd at Beijing (6:00PM~11:30PM – Phoenix Time, December 21st) to discuss their co-operation with IEEE • Dr. Liang Li (Vice-Chair) gives the welcome greeting to all of attendants and mentions that the CWPAN has grown up to be one international WPAN association. CWPAN group should insist its IP being accepted in C-WPAN std. However, at same time, CWPAN group would open to foreign companies and welcome the new proposals and discussion from them. CWPAN would accept their advices • Dr. Wu (the Chinese standard official), Chair of CWPAN, expressed their willingness to work with IEEE to harmonize the difference between CWPAN and IEEE802.15.4. However, if they believe their standard has better performance they don’t want to change it either. • Mr. Shusaku Shimada from Yokogawa Electric physically attended the meeting and did a presentation about the progress of Japan 950M band. Shimada-san wants to seek the co-operation between Japanese WPAN and Chinese WPAN • Two industrial (Hisilicon and Tsinghua Tong Fang Microelectronics) members attended this meeting, the rest attendees are research institutes and universities Kuor-Hsin Chang, Freescale Semiconductor Liang Li, Vinno Technologies Inc.

  3. Prof Yang and her team specially discuss the different point of PHY of Chinese WPAN and IEEE802.15.4-2006. Her team insists that PHY proposals of CPWAN is good on orthogonal features on Coding serials, the better synchronization ability and operation performance in the multiple-channel environment. However, one of the CWPAN members questioned whether the orthogonality of the PN codes still exists under fading channel condition. • Dr. Kuor-Hsin Chang expressed the concern that the current CWPAN PHY proposal requires substantial additional effort for IEEE802.15.4 chip vendors to implement it. • Dr. Pei Liu presents Hisilicon’s answers the questions from 4C group about the MAC layer. • Dr. Pei Liu suggests the Super-frame concepts for CWPAN. He mentions that the superframe concept is from BUAA. HiSilicom would like to recommend this concept too. • Dr. Pei Liu gives their new research results about the security of WPAN. He suggests to add the new security step beyond the traditional Data security. • Dr. Shu’s team presents their works about the sensor networks.
