Software GPure. is a software used to simplify 3D Models generated with Catia . This software is developped by Delta CAD a company based in Paris. This company proposes different applications designed to facilitate the work with 3D softwares like Catia .

  1. Software GPure isa software used to simplify 3D Modelsgenerated withCatia. This software isdevelopped by Delta CAD a companybased in Paris. This company proposes different applications designedto facilitatethe workwith 3D softwares likeCatia. (more informations here: http://www.deltacad.fr ) GALLEAZZI F.

  2. GPureisused by differentcompanies : Weare in relation with the GANIL and IN2P3 who are using GPure too. The GANIL is using GPure since last summer . It is very interesting to discuss with them because they have the same type of 3D models as we have here at CERN. GALLEAZZI F.

GPure has been testedwithothertypes of models : • Models of Experiments (Atlas) Models of services • The size of CGR modelsgeneratedwithGPurearealwayslowerthan the • CGR modelsgeneratedfromCatia. • The differencecanbe important for Integration of large assemblies (like Atlas • Experiment or LINAC 4…). • WithGpure,wehave the possibility to definedifferent scripts adapted to the variousmodelsproducedat CERN. • Once thescript iswritten the model convertion time isshort (3mn for the SLAC Collimator and 10 mn for the RFQ Cavity). The results of these tests seemed OK , even if the scripts for these types of modelsdo not existyet… GALLEAZZI F.

  7. Modelsgenerated by GPure are CGR models, and theyhave somedisadvantages : Positioning: A skeleton must beadded to the CGR model. The sameskeleton willbeused for the positioning of Detailedmodel and Simplified model in a large assembly. SkeletonElements GALLEAZZI F.

Modelsgenerated by GPure are CGR models, and they have • somedisadvantages : • Measurements : • The faces and axisesare lost. • Radius or diameters are lost in a case of cylindricalmodels. • Neverthelessitisalways possible to measurebetweem 2 points withthe option : • PickingPoint.   9. Modelsgenerated by GPure are CGR models, and they have somedisadvantages : Drawings : (1) To see the CGR modelsin a drawing, the fieldCGR must beselected in the Options. To start a new drawingwithonly CGR models , the fieldCGR must beselected in the Properties. GALLEAZZI F.

Modelsgenerated by GPure are CGR models, and they have • somedisadvantages : • But the AutomaticUpdatingproblem of Drawingscanbesolved : 2 solutions • 1/ The skeleton An Assemblyskeletoncouldbe • added to the 3D Assembly model. • This skeletonisused to put the differentmodels in position. • 2 viewsimported in 2D : • - 1 with the CGR model • - 1 with the skeleton • The 2 views must besuperposed. • The dimensions must belinked to • the skeleton. Modelsgenerated by GPure are CGR models, and they have • somedisadvantages : • But the AutomaticUpdatingproblem of Drawingscanbesolved : 2 solutions • 2/ Dimensions in 3D • The dimensions couldberealized • in 3D using the skeletons of different • equipments. • 2 viewsimportedin 2D : • - 1 with the CGR model • - 1 with the 3D dimensions • The 2 views must besuperposed.   15. Conclusions : The simplifiedmodelsmadewithGPurewill help the Integration teams in constructingLarge Assemblies of Machines or Experiments. Layoutdrawingscanbeproducedfromthese Large Assemblies. Withthesemodelsitis possible to check dimensions and to detect conflictsbetweendifferentsequipments. Once the assemblies are constructed, detailmodelscan replace the simplifiedones in areas whereequipments are close to eachother. Withthis manipulation, wecan check with a betterprecision. Nextsteps: • The order of 1 floating licence of GPureisplaced. • 5 people (from CAD Support and Integration team) willbetrained. • Some CERN specific scripts willbeorderedfromDeltaCAD. • The methodology for usingGPure in the CERN environmentisbeingdefined • at the moment. • The first simplifications made withGPure in production at CERN, • willstartsoon.
