  2. Introduction In Santiago, Chile we will be able to utilize many things we learned in Spanish this year. Not only will we practice our Spanish, but we will get to learn about the different aspects of their culture such as, music, arts, food, sports, historical sites, and many other aspects. We will get to practice our speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish. This trip will give us a real life chance to take what we learned in the classroom and use it in the real world.

  4. Weather • We will be traveling to Chile at a time with great weather. The average temperature will be73 degrees. This is a perfect temperature to walk around an do all of the outside activities.

  6. Activities Pablo Neruda’s House-Pablo Neruda was a famous Chilean poet. His house is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Chile. He won a Nobel prize in literature. In his house you can see many different aspects of Chilean culture , such as art and literature.

  7. Activities • Chilean Folklore Show-At this show you can see traditional Chilean music and dances that originated in different parts of Chile.

  8. Activities • At the Plaza de Armas you can grab a bite to eat or even bargain with a street vendor. Here you will have an opportunity to practice many different aspects of what we learned this year.

  9. Activities • Horseback Riding-Whether its along the beach or by a lake in the forest, horseback riding gives you the chance to take a look at some of the prettiest parts of Chile.

  10. Activities • Estadio Nacional de Chile-Here we will take a tour of a major part of their culture, which is soccer. It is the biggest stadium in Chile and was once used as a prison camp

  11. Activities • Palacio de la Moneda- This is where the president and government sit. Here you can see the history of all of their past presidents and how their government works.

  12. Activities • Barrio Bella Vista is a cultural neighborhood where you can listen to Chilean music and look at art shows. Also, you can go shopping and buy Chilean souvenirs

  14. Restaurants Aquí Está Coco- Here you can enjoy traditional Chilean food, mainly seafood. Such as king crab, scallops, clams, and many other types of fish. You can also have many types of wine. Azul Profundo-Here they also have an extensive menu of fish like swordfish, scallops, shark, flounder, and many others.

  15. Restaurants El Cid-The specialties here are their king crab, prawns, squid, scallops along with their sweet and spicy sauce. Bristol-Here they have some very interesting items on their menus. Some of the most interesting are, marinated scallops over octopus or king crab tarter.

  18. Conclusion • This trip will be very educational and cultural. We will get a real life chance to use what we have learned in class. It would answer the infamous question that many students ask. When will we use this in real life? The answer is that we will be able to talk to people and read things like menus and street signs. We will be immersed in different aspects of their culture, and walk away knowing that what we’ve spent all year learning and studying has helped us. We will come back from this trip being more well rounded and experience a different part of the world.
